1.1 Teaching methods of the teacher that you observed
During my observation days, I observed every English teachers in Ateno JHs. From grade 7 to grade 10. Of course they have different methods and strategies. The literature class was something that I found very unique. The lesson was taught by mam Sally, my cooperating teacher, in grade 7.
Literature class, a lesson that I will never find in grade 7 in Indonesia. Since English is their second language, they learn the higher level lesson than we have in Indonesia. In Indonesia you will only find kind of text lessons and tenses in grade 7. What makes me more impressed about this class is the teaching method that the teacher used. The students were divided into several groups consisted of 4-5 people (if I’m not mistaken). Its called literature group. They have their own role in the group. For example, there are a student who had identified some part of the text, a student to monitor the other members of the group to remain silence and be focus, and a student who had to speak up to tell their result to the others. I found it interesting, so that every students in the group had to work on their own. And of course, I believe that the teacher had different assessment related to their roles.
I think it is an effective way that I can use when I’m going to teach kind of texts in Indonesia. So that the students have their responsibilites for their own task. But of course, ever students in their group are able to help the one who has the struggle in finishing their own task to make their group task becomes perfect.

1.2 Learning materials and innovation
·         Textbooks
·         Projector
·         Laptop
·         Blackboards
·         Chalks

1.3 Sources of learning and technology used by the teachers
The lesson sources are based on books and probably internet. The good thing is, those book that the teacher used are also available in their library. There are plenty of books that you can read in the library. And you can always connect to internet in the library because it has several computers that you can use to find sources or learning material.
For technology that the teachers use, is not much different that we also use in Indonesa. All of the teachers that I observed only use projector and laptop as their learning technology. Even some of them do not use technology, they just print out the materials and distributed it to their students. But there is one teacher who seemed to use power point interestingly. This teacher really knew how to make his students enjoyed the class. So that he made an interesting power point and the animations. He made it as he did a magic thing, while he wa actually not. And the students seemed interested in his class. He pretended to point to the LED screen, and suddenly the animations appeared, and all of the students laughed and clapped as he did it.
Using technology in teaching and learning process is neccesary. Its the millenium generation, we cannot put the technology away, instead we have to involve technology to make the students enjoy the class so that they can get the lesson easly.

1.4 Authentic assessment used by the teachers
All I know, they have 2 or 3 meetings for every topic. In that meetings there will be the formative and the summative assessment. In the first and the second meeting, the teacher would just give the students the lesson and the formative. The formative could be anything, it was probably just oral questions or kind of exercises. The summative could be a group project if its the literature class, a presentation for poem, and a quiz. I think the most common summative that the teacher used is quizz. It will help the teacher to measure the students understanding on what they have taught.

1.1  School Profile

1.2  Academic support system
Ateneo de Naga University JHs uses a student-centered learning. It is also what we use for education in Indonesia. The teaching and learning process will be focused on students participation. The students have to share their idea or their own thought related to the lesson. Disscusions, group activities and reporting their result are the most common activites that the teacher used.
1.3  Teaching system
Since they use the K12 curriculum, as I told before that the teaching system will be focused on making their students to be more active in every activity given. And I can’t deny that the students in Ateno JHs are really active comparing to students in some schools I know in Indonesia. The teacher are instructed to make activites that can engage the students.
1.4  Materials and learning sources
The teaching and learning process of course is guided by the department of education. As I know, they do not have their hand books or probably the goverment do not provide books. In order to solve that problem, the school has a plenty of K12 books in the library that the students can borrow anytime. The teachers also gain the sources from those books and internet related to the syllabus given.
1.5  Measurement and evaluation system
·           Exercises
·           Group activities
·           Quizzes
1.6  Curriculum
The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School [SHS]) to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship. Subjects are taught from the simplest concepts to more complicated concepts through grade levels in spiral progression. As early as elementary, students gain knowledge in areas such as Biology, Geometry, Earth Science, Chemistry, and Algebra. This ensures a mastery of knowledge and skills after each level.
For example, currently in High School, Biology is taught in 2nd Year, Chemistry in 3rd Year, and Physics in 4th Year. In K to 12, these subjects are connected and integrated from Grades 7 to 10. This same method is used in other Learning Areas like Math.

1.1  Purposes of the practicum
I belive that this practicum objective is to improve my teaching skill as a student- teacher and also to improve my English skill as an English student. Be placed in the Philippines will enhance my English of course, since I have to communicate with people, especially students, by using English everyday.
1.2  Procedures of practiucum
We are instructed to have the minimum 20 hours of teaching. But, of course it depends on the school regulations also. For me, I had 20 hours for teaching. Our stay there is divided into 3 weeks. The first week will be our observation days, the second week is the teaching days and the last week will be the evaluation.
1.3  Outcomes of practicum
I had 20 hours of teaching. I felt that my teaching and also my English skills have been improved during my days in the Philippines. A really unforgettable experience. I very enjoy during my teaching days in Ateneo JHs.
1.4  The challenges of practicum
Teaching will not always easy to do. Thats why to be a teacher means that you have a big responsible. Because you have to make lesson plan before you start teaching, including the methods, strategies and things you are going to do while teaching. You have to well prepared for every situation.
Teaching in other country is also a really big challenge because you have to deal with different education systems and cultures. I have to admit that teaching English in Ateneo JHs made me nervous. In my observation, I know that they are really good in English. Their English indeed seems better than me. I have to learn the lesson I was going to teach. And there are also practicumers came from Ateneo main campus which made me more worried about my teaching skill. Because I have never experienced teaching in real school. And my first time teaching in real school was in Ateneo JHs in The Philippines.
1.5  Overall impression
A really great experience! I want to thank to SEAMEO, Pakuan University and Ateneo de Naga University for making it happened. I really hope that I have more time in Philippines. I enjoy my stay there, so much. I love the people, the students, the teachers and the Ateneo practicumers. If I have a chance to go to other country, Philippines will be my first choice. Thank you so much!
1.6 Suggestion for future improvemenet
Nothing much I can say for this program. SEAMEO, you have really done a good job. Just keep this program, so that our juniors later can also feel what we experienced during our practicum days. But as people say, nothing is perfect. If I can give my opinion about this program, the SEAMEO or the coordinator are supposed to give detail information about this SEA Teacher program to the cooperating teachers. Because my cooperating teacher didn’t really know how this program works.
1.6  Summary and suggestion
28 days in Philippines were indeed the best days I’ve ever had. I wished I could repeat my time, so that I could spend more time there. A great experience! I hope SEAMEO will make the time longer than just a month. You know, one month was not enough! Haha

1.1    Procedures of teaching
I was told that I only had 60 minutes for every meeting. There are 2-3 meeting for every topic. The first meeting will be my chance to give them the lesson, and the next meeting will be the quizz. And I had to give the students exercies in every meeting
1.2    Time management and organizing activities
Ateneo de Naga University JHs has 60 minutes for every subject. And what makes it unique for me is, they have the same subjects for everyday, unlike in Indonesia we have only the same subjet twice a week. My cooperating teacher told me to have 2 exercises in every meeting. However, sometimes the time was not enough for me to finish the 2 exercies, so sometimes I just gave them 1 exercise.
1.3    Problem solving
Since the time is only 60 minutes for every meeting, which kind of different in Indonesia we have longer time. Then, I had to construct only 10 items or sometimes 5 items for every exercises to make it fit the time given. I had an idea to make 40 minutes for the lesson and the other 20 minutes would be the exercies.
1.4    Classroom manegement
My cooperating teacher told me that I had to improve my classroom management. She told me that I was too close with the students, so that the students thought I was their friends. And my cooperating teacher asked me that it was okay to be close to the students, but I had to put the limit between the teacher and the students

1.1  Curriculum
Curriculum they use in Philippines is K12. Its unique for me, because they have Grade School for 6 years, Junior High School for 4 years and 3 years of Senior High School. And they have a research subject in the fourth year of JHs. According to Officialgazeette.gov.ph, The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School [SHS]) to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.

-SEA Teacher BATCH 7-
Pakuan University - Ateneo de Naga University

I really had an interest to this program since my 2nd year of college. On my last year of college, I finally be able to join this program. When I passed the interview, I hoped I would be placed in Thailand. I've never expected that I would be placed in Philippines. But now I'm glad I was placed in Philippines. I didn't even want to leave the country on my last day. I wish I could stay one more week, to visit all Jollibee in Naga haha..

During my first day in the Philippines, I thought there was nothing much difference from Indonesia. Manila looks similiar to my city, Bogor. Our first week plan was to observe the way the teachers teaching. I was surprised that in Ateneo de Naga University JHS or in the Philippines, they have a higher level of English comparing to my country. They learn phrases and many literatures in grade 7. The second week would be our teaching days. We were instructed to have minimum 20 hours of teaching by SEAMEO. Hope I could have more time in class with the students. The last week was evaluation where we were evaluated by our cooperating teachers. On the last day of teaching, Ma'am Sally, my cooperating teacher, told me to teach them Indonesian Literature.

My journey has come to an end, and I will start another journey from now on. Let me end it by saying thank you to those people who helped me during my time in the Philippines. Ma'am Jeanette, Ma'am Luth, Ma'am Edna, Sir PJ, Father Sam, Father Bubuy, Ma'am Lisa, Ma'am Lourie, Ma'am Sally, Ateneo JHS teachers, Ateneo Grade School teachers especially the Skeletal Force, Teacher Elna, Sir Nico, those people in Ateneo Grade School Canteen, Ateneo practicumers, my SEA Teacher mates and of course the JHS and Grade School students especially LG7212, LG312 and LG412. I've arrived in Bogor, my hometown, safe and sound! I will miss you so muchh!
